JAPANESE GIN
The popularity of Gin is growing internationally, which is a wonderful thing for all Gin lovers! As Japan has a long history of making top quality ‘distilled’ beverages like Shochu, they are now lending that expertise to the creation of high-quality Japanese Gin’s.
WA BI GIN
We import Gin from Hombo Shuzo who have been producing Shochu for more than 150 years in the Kagoshima Prefecture, which is in the South of Japan, on an island called Kyushu. Hombo Shuzo is also the owner of Mars Whisky. Their first Gin is named Wa Bi Gin 和美人 which translates to ‘Beautiful Japanese women’. When we launched this Gin in Australia, the owner of Hombo Shuzo Mr Hombo joined us, and told of his dream to create a Gin that reflected his home town Kagoshima. When he was talking about his long journey to create Wa Bi Gin, he showed his happiness and excitement.

GIN BOTANICALS
There are a lot of regulations that Shochu distillers need to be aware of in Japan, and to call your product a Gin you need to use Juniper Berry, but you can also use any botanicals. Wa Bi Gin’s base spirit is made from rice, and nine botanicals are used and are all grown in Kagoshima. These include ginger, green tea, cinnamon, yuzu, bitter orange, lemon, kumquat, shell ginger and shiso. Wa Bi Gin only uses the highest quality ingredients, so the Gin itself is available in limited volumes. Wa Bi Gin is aromatic, fresh and elegant. We hope you will enjoy this excellent Gin that Mr Hombo and his team have created.
