Tasting Comment:

Mars Shinshu distillery is located high in the Japanese Alps in Nagano Prefecture at around 800m above sea level. Pure mineral water from the mountain is used for whisky making and the distillery is surrounded with beautiful clean air. Short hot summers encourage maturation, and long cold winter gives whisky slow and gentle maturation as well as a break. Selected single malt are blended to create this 2019 edition. Very limited bottling. Vatted from primarily Bourbon barrels.
Ripe fruits such as persimmon, apricot and orange marmalade are evident on the nose. The palate is smooth with a soft mouth feel with flavour of quince, melon and sweet creamy milk. Long and clean finish. Whisky maker’s suggestion is to serve with little amount of water to enjoy the complex flavour.
